FUN FACTS:

  • I can't get enough ocean & sunshine.
  • Seeing/finding the perfect arrangement of imagery, colour and layout elicits a squeal of delight from my soul.
  • Different textures are incredibly intriguing to my fingers and I must touch them.
  • Nana always said "good things come in small packages" which perhaps is one of the reasons I adore tiny little things so much.
  • I learn a lot from subtle observations in life.
  • HIDDEN TALENT: Untying knots from necklaces - there is no knot I can't tackle (maybe a great side business? haha).
  • this is where WE SAY HELLO

I'll go first...Hi, my name is Beth {Elise} Dewhirst and I'm an artist living on the west coast of BC. I live steps away from the beach and every day in my neighbourhood makes my heart sing. My roots are in the North, but I'm pretty sure it was the big blue that called me away.

Over the years you'd find me mucking about in clay, cutting up and hammering at wood, and delving into paints, pencils and pastels. Cool new technology has always been intriguing to me, so creative software entered in at an early age. The hats I've worn include freelance Graphic Designer, Creative Director at a boutique ad agency, Production Manager for feature films and Animator / Artist in the video game industry.

Through the roller coaster that is life, creativity has always been a part of who I am; a voice whispering its excited ideas into my ear, pulling me into the quiet world of focus. It's become one of my favourite places to be.

    THE WORKS

My artwork is about bringing a sense of contentment and calm to my inner space - It's like the best kind of soul care, clearing up my 'idea' piles, so new found clarity can enter, and with it, a whole new set of ideas. Some are hidden gems that I have to dig deep into the unlit corners for (lessons are usually learned after many attempts to get there), while others come with a quick ease and excitement. What was once a whisper of a thought or feeling has become tangible - a form that plays with the senses and at times, the emotions. All those that witness this form experience appreciate it in a different way. To me, that is a pretty cool thing to be a part of.
